Protecting Microsoft Office Files

We recommend using Azure Information Protection (AIP) for enhanced security of your files instead of just password protection.

Microsoft Office comes with a password encrypting function to protect Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentation files. This is a handy tool for preventing unauthorized access. Visit the following webpage for further details and instructions.

  • Keep your passwords properly as there is no way to retrieve forgotten passwords or otherwise open these files.
  • Check out tips on creating a strong password to ensure strong encryption.
  • Office 365, Microsoft Office 2016 or 2019 is recommended.
  • Only one file can be encrypted each time.
