Recover deleted meeting recordings from ZOOM Cloud

Zoom is a web-based conferencing tool with Windows and Mac desktop client, as well as mobile app that enable users to meet online. It is a commonly accepted platform in multi-discipline, including Education and Commercial.

Zoom users can choose to record sessions, collaborate on projects, and share screens, all in one single and easy to use platform.

Getting Started

Recover deleted meeting recordings from Zoom cloud

  1. Go to https://hkust.zoom.us.
  2. Click the "Sign-In" button to Configure your account. The system will be redirected to HKUST Authentication Service (via CAS) portal. Sign-in with your HKUST account and password. Your Zoom PERSONAL Profile page will be displayed.
  3. On the left column bar, look for and click on the Recordings button under the PERSONAL menu, This will bring up your Cloud Recordings screen, showing the list of your Meeting Sessions Recordings on your ZOOM Cloud.
  4. Click the hyperlink named Trash on the right side of page. * It will only appear when have recoverable deleted recordings. *
  5. Under Recording Trash screen, locate the Meeting session you are interested. Click Recover for moving it back to Recordings.
 

Note:

  1. Starting from the Fall Semester 2020, all recordings on ZOOM Cloud will be moved to Recording Trash one month after a semester ends.
  2. Recordings in Recording Trash will be kept for 30 days before permanently erased. User can also delete manually. 
  3. Meeting Hosts who need to archive their meetings recordings should download the ZOOM recordings from the cloud to their personal secured storage (e.g. OneDrive) before the above deadline.
  4. University does not recommend storing ZOOM recordings in Canvas as it has very limited multimedia space.
