Changes related to the Exchange 2013 Migration
The following are the changes of different email tools related to the Exchange 2013 migration:
Mobile / Tablet Users
- Change the server settings of mobile phone / tablets device manually (iPhone or iPad / Android) to cas2013.exchange.ust.hk before the migration so that you can continue to access your emails after migrated to the new email server. You can access to your existing mailboxes using the new server address even you have not migrated yet.
- In case you have not update the server setting before the migration, you may just remove your existing account (iPhone, Android) and add a new Exchange account (iPhone, Android) after migrated to Exchange 2013. Some iPhone user will need to restart their iPhone before they can access to their Inbox.
Outlook Users
- After migrated to Exchange 2013, you will be prompted to sign on your account again (once, twice or more). You will need to wait for a couple of minutes when you first access to your Inbox or calendar items. Please be patient and wait for Outlook to finish its initial configuration.
IMAP Users (e.g. Thunderbird)
- Change the server settings of Thunderbird manually to cas2013.exchange.ust.hk one or two days before the migration notification so that you can continue to access your emails after migrated to the new email server. You can access to your existing mailboxes using the new server address even you have not migrated but your may encounter a warning message “error 12” during start up of your Thunderbird client (you may just ignore it). The error message will gone after your mailbox is migrated to Exchange 2013.
- Messages will be download again after migrated to Exchange 2013. Please wait patiently for the initials downloads if you have large mailboxes.
OWA Users
- There is new logon page for OWA users.
- You will notice a new web interface, with the view tabs such as Mail, Calendar, People, Tasks located at the top menu bar:
- You cannot view signed message in preview pane. Just open the message in order to view the message.
- There is known incompatibilities between OWA 2013 and shared calendars from another user who are still in Exchange 2010. You should be able to access their shared calendar after they have migrated to Exchange 2013.
HKUST WebMail
- There is nothing changed and you can access to your mailbox using the HKUST WebMail interface.
