HKUST Student Account is provided to all undergraduate and postgraduate students after student registration. This account is your key to university online services, including Wi-Fi, Canvas - LMS, etc. It is also your HKUST student email address. You can also use it to access or download frequently used software, like Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom, and Foxit PDF tools.
Your account is created using your initials and surname, followed by the University student domain, in the following format:
- <account name>@connect.ust.hk
Getting Started
IMPORTANT: New students must complete their Student Account Activation before the account can be used:
The University uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to strengthen security. New students are required to complete their MFA enrollment within 14 days after the account is activated. After successful activation, your account will be ready for use within 15 minutes. Your contact information will be available in the student section of the University Communication Directory.
Your Student Account comes with a number of services; the following are a few to highlight:
- Email: 15 GB - You can access your email by setting up Outlook App on your personal device, OR by online access at https://o365.ust.hk.
- OneDrive: 50 GB - This is your personal online storage. You can access it by setting up OneDrive App on your personal device.
- Microsoft 365 Apps - You can download and setup Microsoft 365 Apps, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc., onto on your personal devices (including PC, notebook or smart phone).
- Zoom - Online meeting software. You can access it at https://hkust.zoom.us.
- Foxit PDF - PDF editing software. You can download it at https://www.foxit.com/account/get-my-apps. Click on the SSO Login button to begin.
- Printing - You can find printing facilities available in most areas on campus. These areas include multiple locations on Main Campus, CYT, LSK, the Halls, and the Computer Barns.

Email Account Settings
Visit the @Connect (Students' email service) page to configure email settings, including changing your display name and setting up a full name email alias (for postgraduates).
Account Termination
A student’s HKUST account will be terminated upon leaving the University. Upon successful completion of the study, a four-month grace period will be granted to transition from a Student Account to an Alumni Account. Email notifications will be sent. Students are urged to back up or transfer files before termination.
Alumni Accounts
Graduates can continue using their @connect email address (i.e., @connect.ust.hk) and Microsoft Online Outlook. Please refer to the Alumni Account for more details.
